my recent works are not glazed, I find them already so beautiful! When the clay was leather hard, I did the decorations you see engraved with a Miretta removing excess clay, so the surface is smooth and shiny after the first cooking shows. The effect that I wanted to here is very slight, but insisting you get more of the highly polished surface.
If the shape of our object lets us know we can smooth with a spoon, mind you, if you use clay white and go smooth with a steel head (like a spoon), after the first firing the white ground will be dirty.
